IB at Home

Lt. Col. I. B. Thomas, is an old School mate from the late 60's. IB as he (I assume is still known as by old pals) was called was a quiet self-contained guy with a sharp & ready wit for those who dared to match him. ( I don't remember any one who could...)

SARBJEET PRASAD

Is System Administrator of vitalmail.com an ISP in Ranchi. He packs a lot of HTML under his belt too & is also one helluva nice guy.

JON SHEP

LEFT : Pick up some cool JAZZ from his JAZZ Store Online, Meet Jonathan Shepherd. confidante, “badgerer” and all round companion left for NZ around 11 years ago. Jon & I taught as bachelors at Bishop Westcott Boys School Namkom, Ranchi way back in 1978/79. We could recount some wonderful and some horrific experiences… most of all we played music together. Jon was a formidable bass player.. (he’s retired now & his son Ben’s taken over…!). Chandu, Jon, Baju, Sushil, GV, Deepak (and a coupl’a others I cant remember) were the members of “Reactions” then Bihar’s only Rock Band. We had some riotous times. This old photo is of Jon with my wife Shirley some 3 years ago when he last visited India.

Mr. I. L. G. Mann of Dehradun

Ivan_70_yrs.jpg (37129 bytes) Meet Ivan Mann (80 plus & still going...strong!), probably the leading authority on the Fishing of the famous "Mahaseer" of the rivers of North India. I remember uncle Ivan as a young teacher of mine in the early 60's, as well as a good friend of my Dad. I am still in touch with the family and they are at Dehradun, running the famous "Carman" Schools with Son Greg, & daughter "Dollo" at the helms. the link is to their e-mail address. Here he lands a 30 "pounder" all by himself.

Brian & Barbara

Brian Philips & I go way back to school days in La Martiniere. This would be somewhere in the late 60's. Just back in India then after their dad had finished with a job in Borneo, "Borneo Philips" is what this amicable and laconic guy got called by all of us. We grew quite close as friends for some years after school days too, but it ended when the Philips family moved to Oz in the early 70's. Brian & i just got in touch thru the internet after almost 30 years. Well Cheers mate ! Hope to be seeing more of you and Barbara in due course....

Chandu Prasad (Right)

rodchandu.jpg (13960 bytes)

In my time, I have seen and heard a lot of musicians from India and abroad. I must say that Chandu is definitely a world class Lead guitarist. (My Australian Friends of White Industries will testify to this..)

Chandu decided to donate his talent to Ranchi rather than go out to get the big bucks & I daresay Ranchi has not been as kind as to recognise what a great talent she has. Chandu's Father was the Late Mr. S.S. Prasad, Bihars FIRST Indian Chief Conservator of Forests. His Brother, Gopal, is also a close friend, both in fact since the last 23-24 years now.

Jacqueline Stuart

Jackie is a friend we can never forget. Vivacious, witty, charming and sacrificing, are just a few adjectives which attempt to describe this lovely girl who was one of the few first Teachers who helped us found Bishop's School. Jackie joined us in July 1990 and almost immediately became the darling of the campus... Students, servants and colleagues alike loved this lively and charismatic girl from Gaya. Jackie now resides in Baroda (Gujarat), experienced the terrible earthquake and we recently got in touch after a gap of almost 4 years. A deeply religious and principled young lady, we proudly display some very recent photos she mailed me just the other day.

And, Lest our Friends forget what WE look like these days....!!
